The 1690 completely covers the 1990/990 prep, and is an ideal replacement of the 1990/990. It uses the same rods and latches as the best selling 1990.
In 1999 the Ingersoll-Rand Group bought out Dor-o-Matic Exit Devices. Currently all the old exit devices that Dor-o-Matic made are still available, but we are unsure how long this will last. Dor-o-Matic exit devices are usually on narrow stile doors (glass doors with narrow metal frames), which are prehung and prefabricated by manufactures like Kawneer. Parts are available for 1190 and 1490-1590
