A How To Guide to Finding Your Correct Exit Device
Step 1:
Determine your Exit Device Type:
Rim Device
Latch bolt latches on the outside of the door frame or mullion. This is the most common.
Surface Vertical Rod
Door latches through a vertical rod on the surface of the door.
Concealed Vertical Rod
Door latches through a vertical rod inside the door.
Mortise Device
Door latches by a mortise lock inside the door. Its size is usually
1" x 5" x 6"

Step 2:
Determine what kind of door you have:
There are two types of doors: Standard and Narrow Stile
The only difference is that a narrow stile door is a glass door with a narrow metal frame, (usually aluminum), that is around
1-3/4" width.
A standard door may have glass but it has at least 3-3/4" metal frame around it.

Step 3:
Determine hand and width of your door, and height of door for Surface Vertical Rod and Concealed Vertical Rod only.

Step 4:
Determine what color you would like.
Note- not all finishes are available for all the exit devices
