Door Closers from Yale

Yale has been manufacturing closers for doors for more than a century. Yale door closers transcend the usual quality of standard closers that are sold in the door security market today.

Please note that now Yale door closers are the same as the ones made by Norton Door Controls, but they have different part numbers. We usually find the number 149A Listed on these closers.

When making renovations in your building, it’s always wise to consider the interior and exterior doors. Whether you would like to replace an old Yale door closer with a new one or make essential repairs with new parts, we have just the hardware you require. Our qualified professionals are always willing to help you select the most fitting Yale door closer or hardware for your current door security undertaking.

Most of the Yale door closers that we carry are usually in stock in our warehouse. These will ship within 24 hours when you place your order on a business day.

Keep in mind that if you order any special sizes or finishes or if you order certain parts, they will ship out from the manufacturer’s factory and may take up to 4 weeks to arrive at your home or place of business.

Yale Door Closer Models

Yale 51 Series – The 51 Series Yale Door Closer is one of Yale’s most popular closers and is designed for installation on narrow stile doors. This Yale door closer has several outstanding features including adjustable closing and latching speed valves, an adjustable spring tension and back check.

The 51 Series is both non-handed and non-sized, so the hand and size do not have to be selected when you place your order. You can select how you would like to install it, whether it be parallel arm, regular arm or top jamb mounted. The 51 Series Yale Door Closer will work on 48” doors all the way down to the barrier free resistance.

Yale 2300 Series – The 2300 Series Yale Door Closer was a fixed spring closer that was discontinued in about 2005. It had a back check valve plus adjustable closing and latching speed valves. We ship the Norton 9300BC in its place; they are the same closer.

Yale 3301 Series – The Yale 3301 Door Closer is a narrow stile closer from the 3000 Series with a ¾” by 12” hole spacing. It features adjustable closing and latching speeds, back check, and adjustable spring tension. Up until about 2012 there were two models, one for barrier free applications (3301BF) and one for standard (3301). Today, the Yale Door Closer 3301 is updated to work in all applications.

The cover on the Yale Door Closer 3301 is a slim cover and does not cover the spindles on the top and bottom of the cylinder, so they protrude from the cover.

Yale 3501 Series – This is another Yale door closer from the 3000 Series. There were two models of the 3501 Yale Door Closer up until about 2012, one for barrier free applications (3501BF) and one for standard (3501). The 3501 Yale door closer is now updated to work in all applications.

The difference between the 3301 and the 3501 is the cover. The cover on the 3501 is a full cover, so the complete closer and spindles are hidden.

Yale 4400 Series – The 4400 Yale Door Closer Series is also known as the 400 series. This Yale door closer has been around since the 1970’s, but back then you had to specify whether you needed left or right hand, plus push side, pull side or top jamb mounting.

The latest version of this Yale door closer is non-handed and will work in all three mounting positions. We sometimes find 4400/4400BF and 7500/7500BF on the inside of the cover. You only have to order the 4400 now, as it will work for all four of these closers.

Yale 1900 Series – The Yale Door Closer 1900 Series is a traditional closer that we used to see in the 1940’s, 50’s and early 60’s. This Yale door closer is designed to meet historical landmark codes. It is also expensive, so we would only recommend ordering this Yale door closer if you are looking to adhere to these specific codes.

Yale Door Closer Parts

We currently stock many items that are used as replacement parts for Yale door closers that need repairing. We carry arms, replacement springs and other products that can be used to repair your closer. Some of these parts are manufactured by Norton but can be used with your Yale door closer.
