Dor-O-Matic got its start around 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. The products that they produced were pivots and door closers for storefront doors. They were known for their offset pivots sets, floor, overhead door closers and automatic door openers. In the late 1960’s, they also introduced some commercial door panic devices.
Dor-O-Matic was sold to Republic Industries in the late 1970’s, and then to Newman Tonks in the 1980’s. In April of 1997, the door hardware company was purchased by Ingersoll Rand.
