4" Kickdown Door Holder FS452

The H.B. Ives FS452 is another classic kick down door stop.  It features a simple hold and release, activated with a touch of the foot, and is constructed of cast bronze or brass depending on the finish you are ordering.  A simple stainless steel spring clip holds the stop in the up position.  The non-marring rubber shoe is replaceable, and they have a corrugated bottom to prevent sliding on the floor and a secure grip.  This stop is shipped with matching finish sheet metal screws.   The 4" model is for door to floor clearances of 2" or less.  The hole spacing is 19/32" x 1-47/64".

Ives FS455 is what people think about when they say Kick Down Door Stop.  This design has been around for almost 50 years and is try and true.   Durable and ascetically pleasing to look at.  This door holder features a simple hold and release, activated with a touch of the foot.  They are constructed of cast brass or aluminum depending on the finish that you are looking for.  The rubber tip is a non-marring and is corrugated on the bottom so it will not slide on the floor, and is easily replaceable, look under related products for the replacement shoe.  This holder is for door to floor clearances of less than 2".  This is an ideal door holder for the home, office, church or school.

5" Kickdown Door Holder FS452

The H.B. Our Dark Bronze Oil Rubbed Bronze Door Kick Plates (US10B) are a baked on powder coat on brass base metal. We switched to this finish 5 years ago due to color variations in the US10B Oil Rubbed Bronze finishes. The US version was much lighter than the Asian version, which is where most the door hardware is made these days. The cost of Oil Rubbing was going through the roof and many platers were having issue with the environmental impact and EPA regulations in the United States. Our Oil Rubbed Kick Plates are 16 gauge (.050″) thick.

Kick Plates can be mounted by screws, two way tape, and they can be glued to the door. Our plates come standard with screw mounting. The manufacture sends #6 x 5/8″ Oval Phillips Undercut dark brown screw. The number of holes on the screw mounted plates is determined by an industry wide standardize template. A height between 6-10″ will have 10 holes for plates up to 33″ and 12 holes for plates between 33 and 40″.

Frequently we are asked, “What is the heaviest duty kick down holder  you sell?”  The answer to that question is any of  Grand Specialty door holders.  These door stops are American made and simply the best out there.   They have a shoe that is held in place by a screw, a rivet instead of a roll pin for the hinging mechanism, and a “wedge” instead of a piece of spring steel to hold up the leg.  They are constructed of steel, and not cast like all of the other door holders made.

Another feature is their well constructed shoe can be adjusted down as the rubber wears making the holder last way longer than their competitors. Another use for them is as a door floor lock if mounted on the other side of the door. Once kicked down there's no entry possible unless you slide a flat item under the door to lift the door holder leg out of the way and push the door open. They are very hard, and do not dent easily. The also offer the best corrosion resistances out there.  This plate is ideal as a replacement for Brushed Chrome kick plates. Brushed Chrome Kick Plates are usually a bronze plate that is chrome plated. The problem with bronze is it is a soft metal and dents easily. The stainless steel plates are a lot harder and more resistant to dents. Brushed chrome looks identical to brushed stainless steel.  We only use type 304 stainless.

The Anodized Black Aluminum Door Kick Plate 315AN are a flat black and match the black color we find on Storefront doors.  These plates have an aluminum base metal, which is 18 gauge (.040") thick that is then Anodized in the Black Color.  These plates relatively inexpensive.  Custom sizes are available, they run about $0.25 per square inch.

Lifetime Satin Nickel PVD Door Kick Plate

The Satin Nickel is a popular finish we have been seeing the last 15 years. These plates are 16 gauge or .050″ thick.

The Diamond Plate Aluminum Door Kick Plate are solid aluminum.   They are 1/8" thick and have a gloss or polished finish.  These plates have the Diamond pattern, and the diamonds are 1-1/8" long.  Custom sizes are available, they run about $0.39 per square inch.  The lead time on these plates is about 7-10 days.

The Clear Plastic Door Kick Plates are constructed of .125" thick acrylic.  We recommend screw mounting on these  plate, because you can see right through them, and would be able to see the Tape Mount or Glue.  We have the more common sizes listed, but If you need a custom size they run about $0.22 per square inch.

Anodized Aluminum Door Kick Plates are the most cost effective, least expensive. The aluminum plates are 16 gauge, or .050″ thick and have a brushed or satin finish. They have an anodized finish to resist corrosion and we find these in many commercial buildings through out the United States.

Solid brass kick plate, polished to mirror finish.  We can no longer get the solid brass plates, the lifetime polished brass will be shipped in its place.

The standard Polished Brass Door Kick Plate is a solid brass kick plate that is polished and then clear coated to prevent oxidation. These plates are 16 gauge or .050″ thick. A draw back of the Polished Brass Plates is oxidation. If the plate becomes scratched or dented, there is a good probability that the clear coat delaminates and moist could get under the surface. When this happens, the plate will tarnish. The brass base material is softer, so the chances of them becoming scratched or dented in commercial applications is pretty high.

I would highly recommend the Lifetime Brass if these plates are going to be mounted outside. Solid brass is soft, and tends to dent easily and the clear coat can be compromised. The Lifetime Brass plates do not require a clear and will last a lot, lot longer!

Floor Door Stop Dome 1-3/8" FS438

We ship the H.B. Ives FS438 Floor Dome Stop, another product made by Ives that has been around for 50 plus years.  Take a walk around a school made in the 1960's and you will probably find this door stop, or the hole were it used to be.  This Dome Stop is used on doors without thresholds that have a bottom of the door to floor clearance of less than 5/8".  The are constructed of cast aluminum or cast bronze depending on the finish you are looking for.  The rubber stop is non-marring and replaceable.  The stop has a base that is 1-3/4" x 2" oval, an overall height of 1-3/8" and a base height of 9/16".

The also offer the best corrosion resistances out there.  We often have people looking for Brushed Chrome or Polished Chrome, but the appearance of the two finishes next to each other is very difficult to tell which is which. Also a brushed chrome or polished chrome kick plate would be a brass plate which is then chrome plated and brushed or polished depending on the plate. Brass is a soft metal that dents easily, and also does not offer the corrosion resistance that stainless steel does. Since stainless steel is stable in any environment, they do not have to clear coat the plate.

The LCN 79 Door Closer Rod And Shoe  piece fits into the female part of all LCN Regular Arms. The old style had two concave set screws and a ball pressed into the rod. If the door over rotated the ball would pull out of the concave set screws. The new version has a pin holding the rod to the shoe which is designed to fail if the door is over rotated. This piece will work on the LCN 1260, 1460, 4010, 4020, 4030 and 4040 door closers with regular arms. Some of the really old models have multiple threaded holes, so you might have to drill a hole in the female tube. Part #'s 4040-79, 4040-79LR and 4040-79ELR. The 1260, 1460, 4010, or 4020 could replace the 4040 in those part numbers, they are the same.

High-traffic doors call for heavy-duty closers – closers that won’t let you down no matter how many people go through the door or how hard they kick, push or slam against it, or in the case of public schools the dreaded flying kung-fu kick. And when it comes to heavy-duty closers, no other closer performs like the LCN 4040XP Rw/PA.

The LCN 4040XP Rw/PA features cast iron construction, forged steel arm, double heat treated steel pinion, non-handed, LCN® “Green Dial” spring force indicator, Peel-n-Stick templates, UL and cUL Listed, 3⁄4″ journal diameter pinion, full compliment bearing, and tested and certified under ANSI standard A156.4, Grade 1.

The LCN Door Closer Hold Open Head And Tube 3048 - 3048L.  As the arm rotates the pivot point threads close on to the mounting bracket face and create a friction catch.  If yours is new, try rotating the mounting plate 180 degrees so the threads tighten as it closes. This replacement part from LCN either breaks or wears out.   The material some times wears out due to the friction of open and closing.  But the biggest issue seems to be the point where the tube mounts to the cast iron connector.

Specify your current closers model number when ordering. Not all of the LCN closers have the same shape spindle on the door closer cylinder. Model Available here are the:

4" Kickdown Door Holder FS544

The H.B. Ives FS544 Kick Down Door Holder has been a staple in schools for many years due to its heavy duty construction and inexpensive price.  This is one of our most popular Kickdown Door Holder/Stop for the past 35 years.  It is constructed of durable cast iron, which has great strength characteristics.  The shoe is made of a non-marring rubber, which is replaceable.  The shoe is also held in place with a screw, which makes it a great option in schools and area of high vandalism.  This holder will work on door to floor clearances of 2" or less.  The hole spacing is 7/8" x 1-9/16".

The Door Pull Handle 21 has a cross section dimension of 1/2" x 1" and is made of half round (underside is round) stock. The handle projects out 2-1/8" with a clearance of 1-5/8". This handle is available in 6" and 8" center to center mounting holes, but can be made in different Center to Center dimensions. This product is also known as a Door Handle or Door Grip. The handle ships with thru bolts and matching finish washers.
