Dor-O-Matic 1690/1790/2390 Dogging Assembly PBX-16

Falcon Doromatic 1690, 1790, and 2390 replacement dogging assy. The dogging assembly is used to dog the door in the open position, so people can enter the building without having to unlatch the door for the inside or with a key on the outside.  The KIT.1197 comes complete with mounting screws.   Some of the earlier version where riveted into the rail, so you might need to drill out the rivets, the screws shipped with KIT.1197 have self tapping thread forming screws.

Effective December 20, 2024 the 2390 has been discontinued.  Falcon Doromatic is working on retro-fit plates to work with the 1690.

Doromatic 2390 Exit Device

The Dor-O-Matic 1690/1790/2390 Dogging Hex Shaft is the piece that your dog key (allen wrench) fits into the lock the device in the open or dogged position.  This shaft is used on the 1690, 1790, and 2390 device.  The Dor-o-Matic Panic Devices have been around since the late 1960’s, but have most recently been known as the Falcon Panic Device from a name change they had in about 2008.  They are basically the same device, with the same parts, just a different name plate.  The part that the hex key fits into is only about 1/4" deep, because of that these tend to get rounded out, so the key will not move the shaft. 

To remove the old shaft just pull with a pair of Channel Locks or Pliers.  To reinstall, just press it back in to position, you might have to bend the holding tabs back down, but we very rarely have to do this.  The manufacture part number on this is SHAFT.101.

The Dor-O-Matic 2390 231CA Cylinder Kit converts your 2390 exit only to a Night Latch or Hold Back function key lock.  All the hardware is included in the package to convert your device, except for the Mortise Cylinder.  Housing measures 4-1/2" tall by 1-11/16" wide with a 1-1/8" projection.  We send the 231CA which includes the Schlage B502-191 Cam.   The 239CA is the same kit, but without the Schlage Cam.

The Doromatic 1790 rim device is typically used in applications where maintenance is a concern because the rim device has fewer parts and pieces than current exit devices. The result is less maintenance and adjustment. The streamlined design has no openings for chains, reducing the risk for code infringements and offering increased building security by eliminating the possibility of tampering and forced entry through the use of coat hangers and other tools. The Doromatic 1790 may also be used to retrofit a Doromatic 2090 series crossbar device.

Shipped with all screws and strikes. If you wish to use a key cylinder on the exterior, you will need the 1790 NL/HB Cylinder Assembly, 179CA.

The Doromatic 2390 Anchor Block Assembly is used to connect the push bar to the device channel.

Doromatic Exit Device 1790 Parts Breakdown

The Falcon / Dor-o-Matic Panic Device 2090 / 1790 Standard Strike is the strike shipped with all new Falcon 2090 and 1790 exit devices.  The strike measures 1-3/4" high, 1-3/4" deep and only comes in a Black Matte color.  This strike was known for a long time as the Dor-o-Matic SD36 Strike, but after changing there name to Falcon in about 2008, it is know known as the Falcon SD36 Strike.

Doromatic 2390 Fixed Cover

The Doromatic 2390 Fixed Cover also known as the center case cover. The cover is 1-1/2" wide by 3-7/16" high and projects out 2 inches. The mounting screws are 3" on center.

The Doromatic 2390 Fixed Cover Screw is the screw that holds the Fixed Cover on. The screw is a 12-14 x 1/2" long UFPH MS Type 25 Screw. This is a self tapping screw.

Doromatic 2390 Moving Pushbar End Cap is the piece that fits on the end of the pushbar. The Endcap is 3-3/8" high by 1/4" thick, with an 1-7/8" projection. The Pushbar End Cap is constructed of die cast metal that is painted black.

Doromatic 2390 Lift Bracket

This cadium plated bracket attaches to the concealed vertical rods. When the push bar is depress, it raises and lowers the brackets and the rods. The bracket measures 2-7/8" long by 5/8" wide and has an overall projection of 3/4"

Falcon Dor-O-Matic STK45 Surface Strike

This strike is used when we have a double door application without a center post. By using this strike we can have one door with a surface vertical rod and one door a rim device, which will save money because vertical rods are usually expensive. This strike can be used with the 1590, 1790 and 2090 Rim Devices. The strike base measures 1-5/16" wide by 3-1/4" high, and 1/4" thick. The three slots are 1-1/4" on center. This strike ships with the mounting screws.

The Falcon / Doromatic Door Closer SC81 is an affordable, higher quality, standard template closer.  This closer offers adjustable closing, latching and back check speeds, along with adjustable spring tension.  It has the ability to be mounted on the push, pull or top jamb and is non handed.  This closer is considered a Grade 1 closer, which is the highest grade you can get.  The hole spacing is 3/4” x 12”, which is the same hole spacing as the Norton 8301, 8501 and the Yale 3301, 3501 Door Closers.  We ship the SC81 Rw/PA.

The Falcon SC71 Door Closer used to go by the Doromatic SC71. This is a higher quality door closer at a more affordable price. This closer offers adjustable closing, latching and back check speeds, along with adjustable spring tension. It has the ability to be mounted on the push, pull or top jamb and is non handed. This closer is considered a Grade 1 closer, which is the highest grade you can get. The hole spacing is 2-3/8” x 6-3/4”, which is the same hole spacing as the Norton 7500 and Yale 4400 door closers. The Falcon / Doromatic Door Closer SC61 is an affordable, higher quality, standard template closer.  This closer offers adjustable closing, latching and back check speeds, along with adjustable spring tension.  It has the ability to be mounted on the push, pull or top jamb and is non handed.  This closer is considered a Grade 1 closer, which is the highest grade you can get.  The hole spacing is 3/4” x 9-1/16”, which is the most common mounting template out in industry today.  They used to be know as the Doromatic SC60, but in about 2008, they changed it to the Falcon SC61.  We ship the SC61 Rw/PA.

New for 2024 the Falcon MEL 47867200 Mechanical Latch Retraction. Retrofits all 1690, 1790, 24 and 25 Series devices to Mechanical Latch Retraction. This new system uses the PS902 Power Supply.  The benefits for the MEL Series over the Older EL series are lower power draw (1 amp verse 16 amp), and more flexible power supply location, longer wire runs and thinner guage wires.

The Dor-o-Matic 1690/1990 Top Strike PB48 is used on the Dor-o-Matic 1690, 1990 and 2390 Concealed Vertical Rod Exit and Panic Devices. The plate measures 1" x 1-1/16" with 4 holes. The mounting holes are 11/16" x 11/16" on center. The diameter of the pin is 7/16" and projects out 5/32". The Falcon TD35 Roller Strike is used with the Dor-o-Matic Falcon 1590, 1790, and 2090 panic device where you are trying to protect the frame when the door closes.   The strike has been manufactured since the 1970's.  This part is also known as a Kawneer 133479 strike.  The strike ships with mounting screws in a painted black finish.   This style of strike is also known as a Blade Strike.
