The Dor-o-Matic 1690/1990 Top Rod Latch Assembly PB130 is also used on the 1390, 1490 and 2390.  This latch has been around since the 1970's,  and is usually the issue if your bottom rod is dragging on the floor.  Although we are calling it Dor-o-Matic, it is actually known as a Falcon SU Top Latch due to a name change 5 or 6 years ago.  This latch rolls over when the device is pressed in and then locks in that position.  When the door closes, the 'U" channel of the latch flips over to a vertical postion and drops the rods.  This latch always uses the PB48 Strike, our part # G199034.  The Dor-o-Matic Panic Devices have been around since the late 1960’s, but have most recently been known as the Falcon Panic Device from a name change they had in about 2008.  They are basically the same device, with the same parts, just a different name plate.  Falcon part # PB130 or 4270101806.

The Dor-o-Matic 1690/1990 Top Strike PB48 is used on the Dor-o-Matic 1690, 1990 and 2390 Concealed Vertical Rod Exit and Panic Devices. The plate measures 1" x 1-1/16" with 4 holes. The mounting holes are 11/16" x 11/16" on center. The diameter of the pin is 7/16" and projects out 5/32". The Von Duprin 8827 Top Latch Case 050460 is for non fire rated doors. A non fire rated device is one that has to positively latch every time it closes, you can usually tell, because a non fire rated device has the hex key dogging.  This is the part that may be causing your bottom latch to drag on the floor. The Top Latch does all the work on the Von Duprin 8827. When the Top Latch is retracted, it holds the rods in the retracted position.

Standard top rod for a 7'2" door. The rod measures 35-1/2 inchs long.  Top Rod connector not included.

The Von Duprin 9927 Top Vertical Rod 110573 is the standard top rod for door heights up to 7'1".  The length of this rod is 35", less the fittings.  For larger doors you can order a Rod Extension Kit, which at this point we do not have online.  The rod is field adjustable if your doors are less then 7'1".  The Old Von Duprin part # is 110573, and the Newer Von Duprin part # is 050512.

The Von Duprin 8827 050466 Top Latch And Cover is the 050460 (latch) and 050464 (cover) in one convenient package. The package includes the cover screws and mount screws.

The Von Duprin 2227 Top Vertical Rod 109361 will work on all 2227's up to door heights of 7'1".  The actual length of the rod is 37-3/8", less the fittings.  If your door is taller you will need a rod extension.  Call 1-800-642-2403 for longer top rods or rod extensions.

Replaces and updates all 9827 and 9927 bottom latches to the new style, if your device was installed before October 1998. Sargent 97-2434 Old Style 8700 Top Latch

The Sargent 97-2434 Old Style Top Latch was used on the 8706, 8710, 8713, 8715, 8728, 8740, 8743, 8746,  8762, 8763, 8773, and 8774 Series Surface Vertical Rod Devices before November 11, 2002.  We sometimes fine the casting number of 97-0317 stamped on the back of this latch.  This Top Chassis has 3 mounting holes.

The Von Duprin 050400 Top Latch is used on the 2227, 3327A, 3427A, 9827 and 9927 exit devices. It is used the Fire-Rated along with the standard Panic Devices.  The 050400 is sold without the the Mounting Bracket, if you need the Mounting Bracket you can order the 050546, or order the G99VR10 (050091) which will come with the Bracket. This latch is for use on devices shipped after October 1998. This is usually the problem if your bottom rod is dragging on the floor. Includes screws.

The Dorma Surface Vertical Rod Top Strike 426 is used on the 8400, 8400F, 9400 and 9400F devices. Shims and mounting screws included.

The Norton Door Closer 1601 has been around for the past 40 years.  With the advent of aluminum framed glass doors, Norton was on for the first manufactures to come up with a narrow stile door closer.  Because of this, it is still one of the most popular door closer model out there.  It is a Grade 1 closer and has adjustable closing, latching, and back check speeds.  The model we ship also has adjustable spring tension to work on a wider range of doors.  The hole spacing is 3/4” x 9-1/16”.

Older models may be stamped with Scoville or Eaton, which are the companies that used to own Norton.  We sometimes find 20-1624-4001, or 20-1604-4001 stamped on the back of the closer. If your door closer is stamped 20-1603-4001 or 20-1623-4001, you might want to double check the hole spacing. The 20-1603-4001 usually has a hole spacing of 3/4" x 8-3/16", you could use the International Door Closer 853 as a replacement.
